Pat Caffrey – Tenor/Baritone
Pat sang as a young child all over the house, echoing the Broadway lyrics his parents played on the record player from “On The Town”, “Guys and Dolls”, “The King and I” and lots of Oscar and Hammerstein.
As an adult, Pat’s wife, Lynn, liked his voice and they both joined the San Francisco and later the Oakland Anything Goes choruses.
After Lynn passed away, an opportunity to join JCS came up. Pat’s been with the group since July 2023 and is currently the sole baritone.
DeAnna DZamba – Alto/Tenor
DeAnna first sang harmony in her grade-school glee club, where a highlight was singing in an invitational
district-wide concert.
It wasn’t until after college that she got back into it
at Molly Holm’s vocal harmony jazz class. She had
forgotten just how much fun it is to sing with others — and from that time on was hooked again!
In addition to listening to numerous vocal harmony groups, soloists she enjoys include Karrin Allyson, Tierney Sutton, Jackie Ryan, Roberta Gamborini, Betty Carter, Frank Sinatra and Kurt Elling.
Linda Hoffman – Soprano
Linda’s musical journey started in rural Kansas with a piano teacher who loved polka music and by 6th grade, she was playing the organ in her church on the prairie. In high school, Linda played the oboe in concerts, percussion in marching band and had fun singing in a ‘girls group’ where they won a blue ribbon.
Fast forward to California, where she sang soprano in her church choir until 2018. Then Linda joined JCS and the pandemic hit. When JCS started back up in 2023, she was thrilled to be singing once again!
Laura Steinman – Alto
Although Laura sang at Carnegie Hall once, when her university needed extra singers for a performance, she prefers singing alto in a small jazz-centered group by far!
Laura studies jazz piano and is looking for like-minded instrumentalists for some jamming.
Joyce Weisel – Soprano
Joyce knows that she missed her calling for the Broadway stage a long time ago. She also missed her calling for being
part of a Doo Wop girl group, so JCS is probably as close as she’s going to get.
Joyce has done community musical theater
(Lamplighters, Altarena), sung in choruses (Oakland Symphony) and has even been on stage at the San Francisco Opera as part of an expanded chorus for the last act of Wagner, after everyone had gone to sleep.
Jeff Neighbor – Arranger
Former JCS member and professional musician Jeff Neighbor
has written many wonderful original arrangements for us.
Audience favorites include “Bye Bye Blackbird” and “Pennies from
Heaven” – both of which feature original music and lyrics. Some of the many arrangements Jeff has written for JCS can be seen by scrolling down on the Join Us page of our site.
