Sermonette - JazzCity Singers

Found an SATB arrangement that is very similar to their recording.
The plan is to start working on this tune sometime this summer.

Here’s the original recording by Lambert, Hendricks and Ross.
Below this are the learning tracks.

Our Arrangement:

1). We will not do the opening “Amens” recorded below. Instead, we will open the tune as in the LHR recording above.

2). The piano will play 4 chords (prior to 21 seconds in) to open the tune.

We’ll start 21 seconds in – as we’re not singing the opening “Amens”.
Skip the written ‘scat’ (from 1:19 to 2:21) while learning this tune. We’ll do actual scatting and/or include bits of well-known gospels tune during this part of the song. And maybe Luke will play the saxophone during this portion, too.

Individual Part Tracks:

Turns out there are 2 soprano parts AND 2 bass parts. We’ll figure out whether or not we want to split these sections down the line.
